Tay Cher Siang is a Malaysian jazz pianist,

composer, arranger, educator and sometimes

journey as a jazz pianist. Tay has toured

one leg kick. Born and raised in Melaka, he began

classical piano at age 7 before discovering jazz at

15, igniting a lifelong passion. He earned a Master’s

in Jazz Pedagogy in West Virginia University then

returned to Malaysia to teach at universities and lead

clinics, while also running his own studio. As frontman of

WVC Malaysian Jazz Ensemble and Unit Asia, he has toured

Europe, North America and Asia, released multiple albums, and earned several Cameronian Arts Awards. A father of two, he balances touring, composing, teaching and many other one leg kick things with family life.

Tay won five Kaki Seni-Cameronian Arts Awards, the most prestigious awards
for Performing Arts in Malaysia, for his compositions and performances. He is invited to give a TedX talk at the prestigious 2018 TedX Petaling Street, and then perform with his band at the said event. In 2023, Tay was invited to be the Artist-in-Residence at the UCSi Music Department. In 2025 he was invited to perform with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
As a composer and music director, Tay has been involved with movie soundtracks, Musical productions, and Theater works.
