After School Rock’26: Battle of the Bands
Competition Mechanism:
Participate in our competition to stand a chance to win awesome prizes from Yamaha Music Malaysia!
- Preliminary Round, capture a 1-minute video performance (maximum duration of 2-minutes) of your band with the minimum of 3 band members ages legally between 13 to 18 years old (birth year between 2008 to 2013). Upload the video into your social media and HASHTAG #AFTERSCHOOLROCK26 and #YAMAHAMUSICMALAYSIA.
- Only videos uploaded between 0:00:00am 15th July 2026 to 23:59:59pm 15th of September 2026 will be considered for the competition. By uploading the video with the required HASHTAGS, you will be participating in the Preliminary Round. There are no limitations on the number of videos uploaded.
- 10 bands will be selected as finalists to compete during the Finals on 24th October 2026 at Yamaha Music Malaysia, Kelana Jaya. The 10 selected finalists will be decided by representatives of Yamaha Music Malaysia, and announcement of the 10 Finalists will be done via Yamaha Music Malaysia’s official social media platform.
- Perform on stage with the provided Yamaha Musical Instruments during the Finals at Yamaha Music Malaysia, Kelana Jaya in front of the judges and stand a chance to win great prizes.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A. The Event / Eligibility
- “After School Rock’26: Battle of the Bands” (“the Competition”) is organised by Yamaha Music (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“the Organiser”).

The Competition is open to all individual legal residents of Malaysia with a valid identification document,
aged legally between 13 years to 18 years old (birth year between 2008 to
2013) at the start of the Competition period (“the Participants”).
The Organiser shall reserve
the right to request evidence of identification documents. The following groups of persons shall not be
eligible to participate in the Competition:
- Employees of the Organiser and its group of companies and their immediate family members (spouse, children, parents, siblings, and their spouses); and
- Employees of the Organiser’s agencies associated with the competition and their immediate families (spouse, children, parents, siblings, and their spouses).
- Participants below the age of 18 must have the consent of the parent or guardian before participating in this competition.
- The Preliminary Round (video upload) will run from 0:00:00am on 15th July 2026 to 23:59:59pm on 15th September 2026 (“Competition Period”).
- Participants must follow the steps of the competition provided in the competition mechanism.
- Participants must follow and like our official social media pages (Facebook or Instagram) to ensure representative are able to review participants’ video submission. The post must be set to “Public” to be eligible for judging.
- Participants are required to tag @YamahaMusicMalaysia and HASHTAG #AFTERSCHOOLROCK26 #YAMAHAMUSICMALAYSIA
- The video is recommended to be original, creative, and should not exceed 2-minutes in length.
- Multiple video uploads are allowed.
B. Prizes

- Cash prize worth RM1,000.00 (per band)
- Yamaha Music Kelana Jaya Cash Voucher worth RM3,000.00 (per band)

2nd Runner Up will be given:
- Cash prize worth RM1,000.00 (per band)
- Yamaha Music Kelana Jaya Cash Voucher worth RM2,000.00 (per band)

- Best Drummer

C. How to participate

Record and create a video of your musical performance.
- Recorded video must have a clear visual and clean audio to be able to qualify for the Preliminary Round.
- Music composition or arrangement must be played in a band/ensemble with the minimum of 3 band members ages between 13 to 18 years old (birth year between 2008 to 2013).
- Optional: Say out a few of your friends’ names to challenge other musician friends to join.

Post the video on your personal social media account (Facebook or Instagram) within the Competition Period and tag:
- @YamahaMusicMalaysia
- HASHTAG #AFTERSCHOOLROCK26
- HASHTAG #YAMAHAMUSICMALAYSIA
- Adjust your audience settings and set your post to “Public”.
- Follow and like our official social media pages: https://www.facebook.com/YamahaMusicMalaysia or https://www.instagram.com/yamahamusicmalaysia/
- Wait for the announcement from Yamaha Music Malaysia for the top 10 finalists selected. Posts will be made on the Organiser’s social media platforms. E.g., Facebook & Instagram.
- The Finalists will be invited to perform and compete at the After School Rock’26: Battle of the Bands finals held at Yamaha Music Malaysia, Kelana Jaya on 24th October 2026.
- Finalists will be issued consent forms that must be signed by their parents or guardians as a prerequisite for participation in the Finals.
D. Decision and Winners
- Finalists’ selection will be based on creativity, originality of arrangement, and adherence to the competition terms and conditions by a panel of judges appointed by the Organiser.
- The finalists will be announced on Yamaha Music Malaysia’s social media channels by 30th September 2026.
- All the Finalists will be notified via direct message on Facebook or Instagram.
- The Finalists will need to perform live at the stated event venue for the event Finals.
- During the Finals, members of the band are not allowed to be switched. Roster of musician needs to be the same as during the Preliminary Round. The Organiser has the rights to disqualify those who do not adhere to these rules.
- Winners of the Grand Prize, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, and Best Categories will be selected based on creativity, originality, and adherence to the competition terms and conditions by a panel of judges appointed by the Organiser.
- The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entertained.
- The Organiser reserves the right at its absolute discretion to substitute the prizes with alternative prize or prizes at any time without prior notice. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable for other products or for cash.
- Acceptance of the prize shall constitute consent on the part of the winner to allow the use of the winner’s name, personal data, photo, contents, image, voice by the Organiser for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing and/or other purpose without further compensation.
- The Organiser will present the prize to the winners during the competition finals, which is held on 24th October 2026, at Yamaha Music Malaysia, Kelana Jaya. The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any negligence on the part of the Participants and or misinformation provided to the Organiser in claiming the Prize.
- All participants and winners are fully responsible for all costs and expenses of transportation, accommodation and or any other cost or expenses incurred in relation to their participation in the Competition.
- By participating in the Competition, Participants are taken to have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Competition Terms & Conditions, and accept that all decisions by the Organiser are final and binding. The Organiser reserves the right at its absolute discretion to vary, delete or add to any of these Terms and Conditions without any prior notice.
- These Terms and Conditions will prevail over any inconsistent terms, conditions, provisions, or representations contained in any other promotional materials advertising the Competition.
- The Organiser shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including but not limited to loss of opportunities and any indirect or consequential losses) or personal injury suffered or sustained by any participant in connection with or arising from participation in the Competition.
- The Terms and Conditions of the Competition shall be construed, governed, and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.
E. Personal Data – Consent by Participants
- By participating in the Competition and submitting to the Organiser photo, messages and personal information and or other information of the Participant as may be required by the Organiser for the Competition or purposes related to the Competition and by so providing the Organiser with the completed Personal Data, the Participant agree that the Organiser will collect, use and store the Participant’s Personal Data in accordance with the Organiser’s Privacy Policy as may be amended or updated from time to time.
- For Participants who are under the age of majority, by participating in the Competition it shall be deemed that the Parent or Legal Guardian has consented and agreed to the collection, use, and storage of the Participant’s Personal Data by the Organiser, including for the purposes of marketing, advertising, publicity, or promotional related activities, in addition to any other purposes set out herein or in the Organiser’s Privacy Policy.

- The Organiser will only collect information from the Participant or about the Participant by lawful means that is necessary for one or more of the purposes and activities it was needed for, for processing of the Personal Data relating to the Competition, for updating of the Personal Data, for advertising and promotion and for any purpose as required by law and regulation except where the Participant’s consent to the Organiser using that Personal Data for another purpose, or where the other purpose is related to the main purpose and that the Participant would reasonably expect the Organiser to use the Personal Data for that other purpose.
- The Organiser reserves the right to video, photograph, record and/or publish any of the Participants’ images, Personal Data, materials for any form of publicity relating to the Competition free from any cost.

By participating in the Competition, the Participants give consent to the
Organiser, free from any cost or claim:
- To use the Personal Data on internet, in videos, photographs, write-ups, record and/or publish the Participants’ images, personal data, materials for any form of publicity relating to the Competition or any other materials for the purpose of advertising and promotion in any form and media including the right to reproduce likeness or images; and
- The Participants shall indemnify the Organiser absolutely from any claims or litigations whatsoever arising from the Organiser’ use of the Personal Data.
