ASIA-PACIFIC ELECTONE FESTIVAL (APEF)

ASIA-PACIFIC ELECTONE FESTIVAL 2014 was successfully held on 27 September 2014 at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur to the excitement and pleasure of one thousand two hundred audience. The event was graced by Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Hasan Bin Malek and attended by local and overseas dignitaries.
Fifteen contestants (comprised of the Junior (14 years and below) and Senior Sections)from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia gave a mesmerizing performance on the Electone with their creativity and dexterity on the Electone keyboard. The contestants from ages 11 and above and who were their respective country Grand Prize winners competed to vie for the prestigious APEF award. The Grand Prize winner of the Senior Section for this festival will be seeded for participating at the Yamaha Electone Concours to be held in Tokyo, Japan. And for the Junior Section, this year Grand Prize winner will be competing in the Junior Electone Festival Grand Final in Tokyo, Japan.
This concert has brought the contestants from different cultures closer, and the audience of over 1200 people on that afternoon fully enjoyed their performances and shared the pleasure of music and friendship.
Yamaha has established music schools in Japan and in more than 40 countries and regions around the world. These schools are currently offering more than 620,000 students of all ages and abilities a range of tailored courses that teach them the love of music. The Electone has been used as a key instrument in these schools, as students can learn three basic elements of music: melody, rhythm and harmony very easily and further express their feeling and sentiments by a wide variety of tone colors. The range and versatility of electone music has long been enjoyed by people around the world ever since. The Electone Festival also gives these students a good opportunity to make their own performances to a live audience.

Furthermore, Guest performersMr. Hiroshi Kubota from Japan and Mr. Dion from Indonesia brought the house down with their unique antic performances and cheering from the audience.
